Year 9 Photography - Art

This term in 9Art we have been learning about different artists and their style of artwork, including Photomontages, Slinkachu and Collages/photo layouts.

Slinkachu

Who's Slinkachu?

Slinkachu who was born in 1979 is a London-based artist who creates small-scale Street Art installations and photographs them. The Little People Project started in 2006, involves the remodeling and painting of miniature model train set characters, which are then placed, photographed, and left on the streets. Slinkachu has created Art installations in cities all over the world, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Manchester.

Photomontage - What is photomontages?
Photomontage is the process and result of making a composite photography by cutting and joining a number of other photographs.
It was first used as a technique by the Dadaists in 1915
in their protests against the First World War. It was later adopted by the surrealists who expolited the possibilities photomontage offered by using free association to bring together widely disparate images, to reflect the workings of the unconscious mind.
What is the difference between Photomontages & collage?
A collage can be about the complete disarray of the images in the work. The layout is more artful than logical. A multi-image picture created by a photographic or digital process is a photomontage.

What is a collage?
A collage is a work of formal art, primarily in the visual arts, made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.
