Urumanu Playback

Reflection Blog from our modified sports

What sport were you presenting?
My group and I we were presenting different fun ways and strategies

What modifications did your group make, and why?
Our team (football team) we came up with two ways or two modifications of how to play, learn or modify Football. Football was still played the basic such as the ball must stay on the ground and it must be passed by kicking and we're not allowed to touch the ball unless it goes out of the boundaries then someone can only throw the ball back in.

One of the rules was that if your team score, the person who scored has to nominate one player from the opposite team, and they can either wait out (and support their team) or they have to go and wait patiently at the back of the the other team and wait for one of their team member to kick the ball to them and they have to catch it on the full, then they are allowed to come back in and play.

What went well?
What went well was that both teams (Ds and Sh) were both competitive and each team played by set rules and also they made sure that everyone in their team at least had a chance of playing even if they didn't want to play.

What would you change?
I would change how when I was trying to give out instructions or trying to explain to the opposite team how to play and some of them were constantly talking and yelling at each other, I think we need to work on how to show respect to each other when we are talking.

By doing this as a leader never try to talk over someone that is constantly talking you can just wait patiently until you get their full attention.

If you disagree with someone's idea, don't yell at them and say their idea is not good enough just kindly say to them that you think that their idea can be improved by .... and then tell your idea. That is a way better way instead of trying to debate who's better.

We needed to make a rule where people are not just sitting around and everyone if fully committed to playing Football.

What were the difference between your first and second sessions?
There was a huge improvement in our second sessions such as, we had more time to play the game instead of trying to get everyone's attetion while showing them how to play

The majority of us were fully committed to the sports we were learning how to play

some of us were finally listening to each other's ideas and showing each other respect

Reflection: Am I a leader? Why/Why not?
I think I am a leader, because I was able to listen to each other's idea and leading the group, and if we needed to solve a problem that I don't do it by myself and that the whole group takes responsibility.

CIP Project decision making

Today for Community Impact Project we decided to create a mural or masterpiece  out rubbish / trash picked up from the community. The mural is going to be about Birds an native animals related to Hornby High School / Hornby Community.

How does this represent Hornby High School?
This mural represents Hornby High School because in our school NZ Native birds are so special and has a important role in our school. Also our redevelopment (building) are going to be named after NZ Native Birds.
It will also be really cool to make a art piece that we are all proud of all we can display that in our Hornby Community, showing our community how much Hornby High School care and cherish our Community.

This photo (below) is a mural that I participated in making at our previous school: In the mural includes our school logo and the river and heart represents the river and how it's so important to our school.

Playback Urumanu

What did you do on Tuesday?
For Urumanu on Tuesday we had a game of Multi-ball where we played different ball games such as Basketball, Football, Netball and Rugby within 2-3 minutes. After that we got into our sports team I was in the Football team and we had to discuss within our sports group of two different ways to teach the rest of our Urumanu Class how to play Football.

Within your sports group what worked well?
In our Football Sports group I think what worked well was that our whole group contributed and we all had amazing ideas to modify Football.

What do you need to change for next time?
For our Football Sports team I think what we can work better on for next time is that we need to listen carefully to each other's ideas and be respectful with each others opinions. But we will work good as a team.

What are you looking forward to when your present?
I'm looking forward that the rest of the class or the group of students that we are going to teaching that they understand the ideas of ways we have came up with to play football, also that we have a successful game of Football, also that we enjoy it and everyone follows set rules.

Here is a throwback photo of us playing Bench Ball! It was so much fun!

Angles - Movie Magic

     Movie Magic - Angles

WALT: I can explain a variety of camera angles used to make a movie.
For movie magic I tried or I have used fairly all the camera angles listed below to make my movie more effective and make it more mysterious for the viewers. Here are some of the angles and it will include a example photo.

   Over the Shoulder:
An over-the-shoulder shot  refers to when the camera is placed just behind an "off-screen" actor so that their shoulder is in the frame while you capture the "on-screen" actor's coverage.

The Close-up
More intimate and ‘in your face’, the closeup aims at creating a stronger connection to the subject. Suddenly we can clearly see a person’s emotions and can easily connect with their humanity. If our subject is older, we may be able to see wrinkles of time, which tell a story within themselves. Close-ups are great when you want an intimate documentary style shot where the world disappears, and your subject is the clear focus.

The Long shot
Excellent for telling stories, long shots allow us to see not only our subject but also their environment. Depending on how a long shot is setup, we may find a person surrounded by their workspace, and thus we learn a bit more about their lives. Other times, a subject can be surrounded by seemingly endless isolated. Long shots help us to take photographs that establish a person’s position within the world.
The low angle:
Taking a photograph from a low angle, also know as a ‘worm’s-eye view’, makes subjects appear larger than normal. The lens sees the scene from a point of humility while the subject towers over the world. A photograph taken from a low angle to help establish dominance or power.
The Extreme-close up
The most intimate of all shots, the extreme close-up, goes beyond the standard close-up by focusing on a single feature. We may see a drop of sweat drip down a subject’s check or the fear in a pair of eyes. Close-ups may be shot with macro lenses due to how close they are to a subject. However they are shot, extreme close-ups allow us to get emotionally under the skin of our subjects.

Community Impact Project

What is the project?
For Community Impact Project we are going to focus on Hornby High school and Hornby High community by collecting rubbish and recycling them and reusing them for art work or other amazing creations that we can create for our environment.

What is the purpose?
The purpose of our project is to give back to our Hornby High school environment and Hornby environment. We are going to achieve that by going around the school and community collecting rubbish such as plastic shopping bags, cans, and straw and we can reuse them by create amazing art work out of them which we can display in school or in the community.

How much rubbish do you think we are going to collect? Why do you think that?
I personally think we can collect over 20 big plastic bags of rubbish and that's alot. I think we can collect that amount by picking up rubbish everyday or even filling one plastic bag one day and by the end of 2 or 3 weeks we'll have a rubbish collection.

What colours do you think we will see the most? why?
See through colours because there is alot of bottles and plastic.

What type of art would you like to create?
I would like to create a art or mural where it is totally made from scrap (rubbish collection) and then we can display in the  community such as public parks and places where people mostly litter.

Famous Movie Music

One of my favourite movies is Hush.. Yeah I know? You may be thinking why I would choose a horror movie be one of my favourites. I like watching Hush because of the background music. It's  so effective and It makes me feel nervous and excited and determined to find out what going to happen next.  The background music can give you chills and it gets mysterious at the same time with the movie.

Music is often slow and high in scary movies as it gets to the scary scene in the movie.

Movie Magic WALT

For movie magic Term 1 Our project is within a group we have to create a movie based on a fairytale or narrative. Our group we decided to rewrite and react the fairytale of The Three little pigs and Goldilocks. We also added our own version to it to make it more interesting and mysterious.

Our movie is going to be shooting outside of the auditorium

100 Word Challenge

                      Red Ladder Sinking Coins Pavement

I sink down to the bottom of the floor of the ocean. I see the Titanic, a beauty that hasn't been seen in years. I check my oxygen tank and go closer to explore it. I see a red ladder in my way, and I push it away. I watch as it is sinking lower than I am. The floor of the boat is almost grainy-like, almost pavement texture. Coins from old purses are there like old artifacts. When my oxygen tank has reached its limit I go to the surface, proud of myself and what I accomplished today.

History of Football

The HISTORY of your SPORT

Create knowledge of the history of the Sport that you are given is: Football

  • We will need a Goal posts or such as marking with cones to show where each group will need to score
  • For now since we will be teaching the class how to play it’s best not to put them in position but let them run around freely and enjoy football so that we don’t have to make it difficult for them
  • We will need bibs for each team
  • What safety rules do others need to be aware of?
  • Make sure you have the right gear before going onto the field or playing
    • That you know the rules to the game

Not that we are aware of.

CIP Reflection Questions

  • Explain what community I have joined?
For community Impact Projects I have joined the Christchurch Community, and the Christchurch Community's aim is to help and support our Christchurch community It could be something we can do daily such as going out to a specific area in Christchurch and help pick up rubbish, or it can be something big such as running a programme in the community for homeless or kids on the streets and also kids who need to go to school.
  • Explain why this community is your passion
I choose Christchurch community as my passion because I want to get out of my comfort zone and go out in our community and help people and also connect with others that need our help.
  • Explain one idea you're interested in
I've seen alot of kids who are out in the street that don't have homes, parents and food, and this is a big problem in our community so I had an idea where we can ask Mr Sutten for a Mufti Day where everyone in the school will come in non-uniform and they will also have to bring a gold coin along with them and that money will contribute to buying food or even helping orphanages or hospitals that have kids that who are fighting caner.
  • How do you think you will achieve this idea
We can set up a school fair where we will make items from scrap and sell them or we can also cook food to sell, we can also do a Mufti Day (as above) also we can get out to the community and do a sausage sizzle or a carwash.
