I like to listen to hip hop music because I like to dance to the music and it's popular nowadays.

Tupac Shakur - I like listening to Tupac's music because he's more than just a rapper. He could rap about love, hate, death, drugs, alcohol, pretty much anything and it was good. Also one of the main reasons why I like Tupac is because behind his songs he brings messages about life, teen and it's very inspiring.

Fia (The Artist) - Fia is a powerful singer/songwriter. I like Fia's music because it's very soothing and it bring happy vibes.

Six60 - I like listening to Six60 because I grew up listening to their music and their music is very inspiring.

Term 4 - Music Performance/Reflection

This Year in Music we have been trying out and learning how to play a variety of instruments including the Piano/Keyboard, Guitar, and Ukelele. This year I decided to take music as one of my option classes because I love music, and I want to extend my knowledge of music by learning how to play the piano.

In the beginning of term 4, we had to form groups within our class, and create a piece of music performance to perform to the rest of our class. In my group was Chara and I. We decided that I will play the piano while she will sing, our song choice was "All of Me" by John Legends. We picked this song because it wasn't too challenging and it wasn't too easy for us, due to our time frame we decided to only perform the first few verses & intro. For me it was my first time performing in front of a crowd, I was nervous and excited because I knew that this was a good opportunity to get me out of my comfort zone.

To be able to perform a successful performance, we had to cooperate and make sure that each of us are playing a fair part in our performance, I had to make sure that I wasn't playing over Chara while she was singing, therefore Chara had to participate by singing while i'm playing.

This year in Music has been very good, I've really enjoyed music this year, I've learnt how to play a few chords on the guitar and Ukelele and I've also worked with other students in my year level. Below is a video of our music performance! I can't wait for music next year!

Instrument Evaluation

What have you studied in Music this term?

This term in music we have been focusing on trying out different instruments including Piano/Keyboard, Ukulele and Guitar. Alongside with that we have been doing theory based on each of the instruments and  researching about where the instruments originated from and how it is used.

Which instrument have you enjoyed and why?

For this term I've enjoyed playing the guitar because I've always thought that Guitar was really hard to play, but then when I gave it a go I realized it wasn't so bad after all. I learnt how to play a few chords and seemed to do well with my fingering. Along with that I also learnt how to play the guitar to the chorus of Take it easy by Stan Walker.

Which instrument did you find the most challenging and why?

The instrument I found challenging was the Ukulele because the string were small which made the fingering hard for me.

Which instrument are you going to focus on for the rest of the term and why? What would you like to achieve?

For the rest of the term I was to focus on Piano/keyboard because the Piano is the instrument that makes me passionate and sometimes it can be difficult but I have to keep persevering.  By the end of the term I want to be able to play one or two full songs of my choice on the piano.

The Piano

Where was the Piano invented and by who?
The piano was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori (1655-1731) of Italy. Cristofori was unsatisfied by the lack of control that musicians had over the volume level of the
harpsichord. He is credited for switching out the plucking mechanism with a hammer to create the modern piano in around the year 1700.

What did the first Piano look like?
The piano looked looks like a Harpsichord.
When a key is pressed, a plectrum attached to a long strip of wood called a jack plucks the string to make music. This system of strings ans soundboard, and the overall structure of the instrument resemble those that can be found in a piano.

What is the difference between a Piano and a Keyboard?
The main difference between a piano and a keyboard are:
  • A 'piano' is an acoustic instrument with weighted keys whereas a 'keyboard' is an electric instrument (requiring a power source) with unweighted (lighter) keys than a piano.
  • Each instrument has its own unique benefits and features.
  • Piano echos
What do I enjoy about (playing) the piano/keyboard?
For me I enjoy playing the keyboard because there are a variety of options meaning I can add backing sound and have a go at playing to the sounds.

Famous Movie Music

One of my favourite movies is Hush.. Yeah I know? You may be thinking why I would choose a horror movie be one of my favourites. I like watching Hush because of the background music. It's  so effective and It makes me feel nervous and excited and determined to find out what going to happen next.  The background music can give you chills and it gets mysterious at the same time with the movie.

Music is often slow and high in scary movies as it gets to the scary scene in the movie.
